Over the last week or so I've been putting in hours on the Tsukagawa Deuce. The body is back from paint and my next goal is to get it mounted to the completed chassis for the final time. But first I have to make certain that everything under the body is 100% done. I don't want to have to take the body off again after this and I'm trying to get all the details done on the fuel, brakes, exhaust etc.
In these pictures you can see the fuel system, we are using an electric fuel pump for reliability and we have to use a pressure regulator to make certain the fuel pressure stays at 2.5-3 pounds. the Stromberg 97's do not like any more than that. Since we didn't want to look at a modern regulator I had to figure our how to package it under the car. It was a bitch to make the steel lines but I think it's the safest way to plumb fuel and it looks great as well.
Also note the fabric welting on the frame rails. This will insulate the body from the frame and keeps things from creaking and rattling as you drive down the road. The exhaust is all in the car now except for the tail pipe sections, I was hoping to polish them but it did not work out. I sent them out to be nickel plated. The front sections of the exhaust are wrapped with insulation to protect the clutch slave and the starter. The starter itself is a custom made gear reduction unit, it's based on a Toyota starter with a custom nose and an adjustable front plate that allows it to be oriented in any position. The clutch is fully bled and operational as are the brakes.
So here's some current photos of the chassis as it sits. It is almost done, the only hang up now is getting a fuel tank sending unit. The fuel tank is not accessible with the body on so I have to take care of it now. I think it will be at least a week before the sender arrives so the break will give me a little time to catch up on some other jobs in the shop.
