Meet The Players

This is a 1958 Austin Healey 100-6, also known as a "Big Healey". This particular car has a later twin port six swapped in years ago, but otherwise stock. The owner chased the car for several years and was finally able to buy it from the owner's son in South Central Los Angeles. There's a great story of him driving the thing out of Compton as fast as he could after he finally managed to buy it.

It was taken apart and painted a couple of years ago and then it sat. The owner brought it to me along with a ton of parts in boxes. It's taken two and a half months to get it this far. The reproduction interior and carpet kit is in it and the mechanicals are mostly back to spec. I installed new bumpers, brakes, headlights, tail lights, turn signals, windshield,  heater, grill, door handles, latches, made the doors close properly, etc etc. I also had to make new front brake adjusters from scratch. It actually runs and drives pretty good. I'm waiting for a muffler which is currently on back order from the two main vendors. It's a special twin inlet/twin outlet deal that doesn't cross over to anything normal. If the backorder lasts much longer I might just make a muffler. Other than the muffler it's ready to go!

Not the original colors but still nice.

The reproduction interior kit took a lot of work to make it right but it turned out nice. I think it makes the car.
