Making Parts

The first step in the Datsun/SR20DET project was to finish the manifold and mount the turbo. Nothing too earth shattering here, enjoy the pics!

Once the mounting position was determined, I rough cut a hole with a cutoff wheel first, and then cheated it out to full size using a carbide cutter.

This stand off was radiussed to fit the pipe but it did not fit well at the angle we needed. I trimmed the bottom off one side and welded this extension piece on. Then I beat a radius in it to match the inside radius of the joint.

So it fit like this, yo.

Finished welded with the threaded T28 mounting flange in place.

Here's the manifold bolted to the motor.

And here's the turbo ready to rock. Next up...the down pipe.
