Making Parts

Another issue with the Studebaker was the transmission tunnel. When the original builder swapped the 4 speed in, he felt the need to make a new transmission tunnel. Thankfully he saved the pieces he removed. I changed the 4 speed to an overdrive 5 speed which gave me a good excuse to put the original tunnel back in. Here's a few pics.

He cut the original tunnel out but first he tried cutting a hole where the Muncie transmission shifter came out. I think maybe he missed the mark which is why the other tunnel was made. I filled that hole and then made a new hole for the 5 speed shifter to poke through. I also added the skirts on the sides so the tunnel could now be bolt in.

The other hole was originally an inspection cover to get to the automatic transmission dipstick.
