Meet The Players

This 1949 Chevrolet Convertible is a project that was started in earnest but never quite made it over the hump. It has a new wiring harness partially installed, an independent front suspension with power rack and pinion steering also partially installed, exhaust that's almost done, and a front clip that's laid in place but not anyhwere near done. I think that's where they got bored.

My job is to get the front sheetmetal bolted down and fit properly over the fancy independent suspension and then do everything else to let this car be driven home. The client is going to finish the interior, the top and the paint on his own. Here's what we got.

The fenders and hood look like they are done but when you turn the steering wheel everything moves. It's hitting everywhere.

It'll be a nice car when it's done, but first I have to make it a driver before the client just gets sick of looking at it. This is a four or five year project at this point.

The wiring harness is sort of run where it belongs-ish. It still needs to be terminated.

It's got a 69 or so GMC 292 six cylinder with a 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission. All the cables and linkages still need to be sorted. Not to worry, I've got two hands.

This is cool. The front of the fan pulley is about 6 microns away from the core support. So I guess I'm running electric pusher fans?
